'Oh! Canada!'

'Oh! Canada!', originally uploaded by Canadapt.

- Highway 129 North, Thessalon to Chapleau, Ontario, Canada -

We are back after a glorious couple of days on the road viewing and trying to capture in photographs the beauty of Autumn in our home region (an impossible task). Our road trip took us south of Keefer Lake into country where not just yellows and oranges predominate but all manner of hues are on exhibition in the countryside.

For those that haven't (yet) seen our countryside in Autumn ... you need to know that the colour in these images is not enhanced by Photoshop or any other post-processing wizardry. In fact, I am always tempted to back off the saturation because it is just so vivid as to be almost unbelievable by the uninitiated. Suffice to say that no pixels were harmed or bent in the presentation of these colours.

'Jailhouse Rock'

'Jailhouse Rock', originally uploaded by Canadapt.

- Toronto, Ontario, Canada -

They are building a new highrise building along Queen's Quay E. in Toronto and when I came upon this scene - for reasons only a neuropsychologist or poet could explain - I immediately thought of the ancient 'music video' (it's not really a video but actually a movie) of Elvis Presley's 'Jailhouse Rock' ... I think you have to be over 50 to even have a chance of knowing what I am talking about.

Click THIS LINK 1.) if you are under 50 - or 2.) if you are over 50 and don't know what I am referring to - or 3.) if you are over 50 but just like great rock and roll. And if you don't fall into any of those categories check it out anyway ... it's a classic!

I do like that moment in photography where the potential of a scene for yielding a good photograph provokes a visceral reaction ... this was just such a scene for me.

'Splendour in the Grass'

'Splendour in the Grass', originally uploaded by Canadapt.

“What though the radiance which was once so bright
Be now for ever taken from my sight,
Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind;
In the primal sympathy
Which having been must ever be;
In the soothing thoughts that spring
Out of human suffering;
In the faith that looks through death,
In years that bring the philosophic mind.” – William Wordsworth

"Tendencies" No. 2

"Tendencies" No. 2, originally uploaded by Canadapt.

Early morning light on Lake Ontario, Toronto, Canada

Tendencies

You ask “Would I?” And I respond “maybe ... mostly”
Black is not, white is not
Stripes of light in wondrous intensity ripple across my life
Spots of light illuminate the turning points
Brightness one day
Darkness another
Variations of light
Light in varying quantity
Light of special quality
Dim possibilities
Bright prospects

Little Lamb who made thee ...

Little Lamb who made thee ..., originally uploaded by Canadapt.

The Lamb

Little Lamb who made thee
Dost thou know who made thee
Gave thee life & bid thee feed.
By the stream & o'er the mead;
Gave thee clothing of delight,
Softest clothing wooly bright;
Gave thee such a tender voice,
Making all the vales rejoice!
Little Lamb who made thee
Dost thou know who made thee

Little Lamb I'll tell thee,
Little Lamb I'll tell thee!
He is called by thy name,
For he calls himself a Lamb:
He is meek & he is mild,
He became a little child:
I a child & thou a lamb,
We are called by his name.
Little Lamb God bless thee.
Little Lamb God bless thee.
