L'heure bleue
Twilight at Keefer Lake --- "The Blue Hour" ---
The strange cloud that you see was actually a weather front moving quite rapidly - it rolled right over top of me within minutes of this shot and brought a wall of moisture with it that left my lens with a coating of mist and my face damp; a wonderfully strange phenomenon.
Yellow moon on the rise ...
Blue, blue windows behind the stars, Yellow moon on the rise, Big birds flying across the sky, Throwing shadows on our eyes. ...
From Neil Young's song "Helpless" - "There is a town in North Ontario" :)

J.D. Under Glass
I have always believed that the best way to improve one's own photography is to look at the work of others ... not emulate them, rather to study and enjoy their art. Don't confine yourself to just a few others or to just those who shoot what you like to shoot (e.g., nature, street, portraits, macros, etc.) but look at and study images from all periods, genres and styles ... it will at the very least inspire and more likely instruct as well.
Kudos to Dennis Stock for creating the photo 'under glass.'

"We have no time to stand and stare?"
Leisure
What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?—
No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began?
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

"The Kiss"
I read Rimbaud today, oh boy
About an unlucky man who made the grade
And though the rhyme was often sad
I just had to breathe
Having read ‘The Tease’
I'd love to turn my mind …

Fichu moiti dfait, malinement coiffe.
Et, tout en promenant son petit doigt tremblant,
Sur sa joue, un velours de pche rose et blanc,
En faisant, de sa lvre enfantine, une moue,
Elle arrangeait les plats, prs de moi, pour m'aiser;
- Puis, comme a, - bien sr, pour avoir un baiser, -
Tout bas: "Sens donc, j'ai pris une froid sur la joue..."

The Mother and Child Reunion
I definitely have a severe case of what we northern Canadians call "cabin fever." It strikes typically in February or March when we have had to much of winter. Unfortunately, we still have another 4 to 6 weeks to go (and sometimes longer). I can't wait for the Loons to return home, ahem, I would go loony without them :)

Mother and Child Reunion (Paul Simon)
No I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
But the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away, oh, little darling of mine
I can't for the life of me
Remember a sadder day
I know they say let it be
But it just don't work out that way
And the course of a lifetime runs
Over and over again
No I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
But the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away, oh, little darling of mine
I just can't believe It's so
Though it seems strange to say
I never been laid so low
In such a mysterious way
And the course of a lifetime runs
Over and over again
But I would not give you false hope
On this strange and mournful day
When the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away
Oh the mother and child reunion
Is only a motion away
Oh the mother and child reunion
Is only a moment away

Chasing Mondrian
"Sew What" (with apologies to Miles Davis), originally uploaded by Canadapt.
I have become lazy with my postings of late, only putting up photos from my Flickr collection rather than taking the time to ruminate and elaborate in this blog as I had originally intended ... a consequence no doubt of the fact that no one is actually looking at (or reading) this blog :) My earliest postings are more ambitious .... I must strive to get back to that regardless of readership!
"Sew what" if no one is looking! Such a bad pun :)
